Abdiwasa Abdilahi (PhD) was one of the academic staff of both the School of Postgraduate Studies and the Institute for Peace and Conflict Studies within the University of Hargeisa. He was appointed the Vice President of the The Somali Regional State – Ethiopia (The State Of Somali – Ethiopia) yesterday.

” He has a PhD in Political Science from Addis Ababa University. He did his first and second degrees also in Addis Ababa University in Political Science and International Relations respectively. He also had done his second MA in International Law from the University of Amsterdam. He taught different courses focusing on international relations, including the Horn of African Politics, government and politics in Africa, political economy of Africa, human rights and governance, and international law. He also supervised both graduate and undergraduate students on a number of issues varying from local Ethiopian politics to international issues such as terrorism, piracy, small arms trafficking and refugee issues. Some of His publications include “the Somali region of Ethiopia: local conflict and regional security”, published by the Institute for Security Studies, Pretoria, South Africa in 2008; “Human Security in Somali region of Ethiopia after 1991”, Africa Peace and Conflict Journal, Volume 8 Number 1 March 2015 and “the nexus between Informal cross Border Trade (ICBT) and Cross Border Security Governance (CBSG) ‘focusing on the Somali region of Ethiopia, in collaboration with Organization for Social Science Research in Eastern and Southern Africa (OSSREA)”
