The university of Hargeisa held an event which was attended by a large number of poets in which Dr. Mohamed Y. Hassan stated that
“It is believed that a large number of languages will be eliminated over the next decade”
The president of the university of Hargeisa Dr. Mohamoud Yusuf Abdi opened the ceremony of the “meeting of the poets” by stating that the
“Somali language & its literature are taught at every single college at the university”
among st his words were the fact that the Somali vocabulary needs to be revived so that it can include new words used for education and socializing such as the Somali equivalent of Network, the Somali equivalent acid vocabulary concepts used in science et cetera.
He also stated that our language should be research, sorted and safely stored so that our children and the generations that come after them.
