Position Title: Medical Laboratory Supervisor (2 Positions)
Organization: University of Hargeisa, Faculty of Medical Laboratory Science
Location: Hargeisa Group Hospital

Position Overview:

The Faculty of Medical Laboratory Science at the University of Hargeisa is hiring two (2) Medical Laboratory Supervisors to oversee the practical training of senior Medical Laboratory Science students at Hargeisa Group Hospital (HGH). Each supervisor will work in a designated shift: Shift A or Shift B. This role requires experienced professionals with expertise in laboratory sciences, a passion for teaching, and a commitment to mentoring future professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and mentor students during their assigned shift (Shift A or Shift B).
  • Provide hands-on training in laboratory techniques and practices.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and laboratory best practices.
  • Deliver technical expertise in hematology, immunology, clinical chemistry, and parasitology.
  • Collaborate with the Coordinator of the Supervisors to optimize student learning outcomes.

Minimum Requirements:

Candidates must meet the following criteria:

1. Educational Background and Professional Experience:
  • Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Science.
  • At least 3 years of experience in laboratories and teaching institutions.
  • Proven experience in laboratory teaching, particularly in parasitology and microbiology staining techniques.
  • Extensive knowledge of laboratory equipment, including hematology analyzers, chemistry machines, and immunology tools.
  • Must have been a payrolled staff member of Hargeisa Group Hospital.
2. Knowledge and Skills:
  • Strong foundation in laboratory medicine, including hematology, immunology, clinical chemistry, and parasitology.
  • Effective communication skills to facilitate interaction with students and staff.
  • Awareness of laboratory safety standards and best practices.

 

Additional Requirements:
  • Dedication to mentoring and coaching students during their practical sessions.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with university faculty and hospital management.
  • Flexibility to work in assigned shifts: Shift A or Shift B.
