Job Description for A Malnutrition Department Clinical Supervisor:
Position Summary: The Malnutrition Department Clinical Supervisor plays a crucial role in overseeing the clinical education and training of undergraduate medical students in the area of malnutrition. This role involves direct supervision of students during clinical rotations, development and implementation of educational programs, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clinical Supervision:
- Supervise and mentor undergraduate medical students during their clinical rotations in the malnutrition department.
- Provide direct oversight and guidance on patient assessments, treatment plans, and interventions related to malnutrition.
- Evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback to facilitate their professional development.
- Educational Program Development:
- Develop and implement curriculum and educational materials focused on malnutrition and its management.
- Coordinate and deliver supervision, clinical sessions, ward Rotations, workshops, and seminars to enhance students’ knowledge and skills in managing malnutrition.
- Ensure educational content is up-to-date with the latest clinical guidelines and research.
- Maintain detailed documentation of patient care and educational activities.
- Quality Improvement:
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance the effectiveness of the malnutrition department’s clinical educational services.
- Monitor and evaluate clinical outcomes and student learning objectives.
- Contribute to the development of policies and procedures to improve patient care and educational outcomes.
- Research and Evidence-Based Practice:
- Promote and engage in research activities related to malnutrition and its treatment.
- Integrate evidence-based practices into clinical education and patient care.
- Support students in conducting research and developing their own projects.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Foster a collaborative environment among the UOH collage of Medicine and health sciences, undergraduate Clinical Coordination office, clinical supervisors, healthcare professionals, students, and patients.
- Communicate effectively with undergraduate Clinical Coordination office, patients, families, and the healthcare team to ensure optimal care and educational experiences.
- Attend and participate in departmental and institutional meetings as required.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in pediatrics, preferable to have a training in education most likely Health professions education (Certificate, Diploma, Masters level)
- Education: Medical degree (MD) with specialized training or significant experience in nutrition, dietetics, or a related field.
- Experience: 5-10 years’ experience in a clinical supervisory role or teaching position, preferably within a medical or educational setting.
- Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills; proficiency in clinical assessment and treatment of malnutrition; ability to develop and implement educational programs.
- Certifications: Board certification in a relevant specialty (e.g., internal medicine, pediatrics) preferred; additional certification in nutrition or dietetics is a plus.
- Knowledge: In-depth understanding of malnutrition, including its etiology, diagnosis, and management; familiarity with current research and evidence-based practices.
Working Conditions:
