University of Hargeisa Presents Cutting-Edge Research at ICEA2025 in Djibouti

The University of Hargeisa proudly participated in the International Conference on Energy and Applications (ICEA25), hosted by the University of Djibouti from February 25-27, 2025. The conference, held at the Ayla Grand Hotel in Djibouti, gathered energy experts, researchers, and professionals from 51 universities worldwide to explore innovative solutions for the energy sector. Dr. Fuad Abdi Obsiye, Vice President for Academic and Research, led the University of Hargeisa’s delegation, which included two researchers from the Department of Electrical and Electronics in the University of Hargeisa College of Engineering and Computing.
The team will present a comprehensive study titled “Comparative Modeling and Forecasting of Renewable Electricity Generation in Africa: ARIMA, ETS, and Hybrid Models,” which evaluated various time series forecasting techniques to predict renewable energy production. The research demonstrated that hybrid models, particularly ARIMA-TBATS, offer the highest accuracy in long-term forecasting, with projections indicating steady growth in Africa’s renewable electricity generation, reaching approximately 287 TWh by 2030. This participation highlights the University of Hargeisa’s dedication to advancing research in renewable energy and contributing to Africa’s sustainable development goals.
