This ceremony is the premier event held at the University of Hargeisa for the celebration of our graduates’ achievements. Graduating from the University of Hargeisa is a very significant milestone for us and our students. Everyone is expected to respect and follow the protocol guidelines set for the ceremony.
Failure to follow graduation Protocol or exhibition of any behavior deemed inappropriate may result in the removal of the candidate or guest from the arena.
Graduating students and guests are expected to follow these procedures and guidelines before, during, and after the event
- The graduating student must be on the University compass not later than 7:00 am. He/she should be wearing the gown and the cap. No graduating student without an invitation card will be allowed to enter the university compass. The invitation cards will be given to the students one day before the event.
- Students should take testimonial from their respective colleges/schools/institutes early before coming to the line.
- Caps and gowns must not be altered in any way by the graduates during the event.
- Graduating students will be arranged in line before the start of the event (7:00 am-7:40 am). The honor students will be standing before the other graduating students as student marshals and will lead their respective students to the graduation site once demanded. The following table shows how the different college/school/institute graduates will line up before the start of the event on the road between the finance office and administration building. The first line ‘‘Good Governance and Leadership’’ will be standing near the site and others will follow.

Undergraduates are arranged and lined in order of
1. College of Islamic Studies 2. College of ICT 3. College of Business and Public Administration 4. College of Applied Science – Medical Lab, Nutrition, and Environmental Science. 5. College of Social Science and Humanity – Journalism, and Social Work. 6. Math and Statistics 7. College of Education 8. College of Law 9. College of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine- Veterinary, and Agriculture. 10. College of Engineering- Civil, Electrical, Telecommunication, and Architecture and Urban Planning. 11. College of Medicine 12. School of Economics |
- The graduates will be demanded and welcomed separately to the graduation arena. The Deans of each college will welcome the graduates to the arena. Students of each College/faculty/school/institute should not sit on other than the assigned seats.
- Graduates and guests are to remain in their assigned seats for the duration of the graduation ceremony. Movement of any kind during the event is discouraged.
- Political parts should concise their speech on the congratulation of the graduates and the opportunity they have for them if they are elected or not.
- Cell Phones must be kept silent during the ceremony. All unauthorized cameras and photography in the event are prohibited!!
- As a safety precaution for Covid19, close physical contact between graduates, staff, or faculty, such as handshaking, hugs, should be avoided unless they are part of the same household. Parents are strongly advised to wear masks and gloves.
