The University of Hargeisa has received senior officials from the MARTHA organization and Somaliland Finish Association (SFA)
The Martha Association is a Finnish non-profit organization well-known for its dedication and advice on food, nutrition, gardening, the environment, family finances, and consumer issues. The University of Hargeisa with SFA and LNGO’s WAAPO and BVO will implement a 4 years project, which aims at improving the nutrition skills and economic empowerment of women and families of children with disabilities.
It is the goal of the University and the department of nutrition and food sciences to showcase the nutritional value of locally available foods and how their composition may improve the overall health of people under malnutrition. The role of the University in this project is mainly focused on the training of trainers, who will provide nutrition and food training to locally targeted householders. The trainers will be given both practical and theoretical sessions by qualified nutritionists. After the meeting, the MARTHA and SFA officials were shown the places where the training will be held and how the spaces will be utilized in both theoretical and practical sessions.
