The University of Hargeisa (UoH) is proud to announce its active participation in the prestigious Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility (ICM) program, a significant step towards fostering internationalization, academic collaboration, and innovation in higher education and research.
A team of distinguished UoH officials, including Dr. Abdirashid I. Mohamed (Vice President of Administration and Development), Dr. Abdurazak T. Awale (Dean, College of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine), and Dr. Ibrahim Farah Hirsi (Associate Dean, Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine), recently spent 17 days at the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague (CZU).
During their visit, the team engaged in roundtable discussions, specialized training sessions, and educational field visits to CZU’s laboratories, farms, and food pavilion. These activities explored key areas of collaboration, joint research opportunities, and skill enhancement for faculty, administrative staff, and students.
Key Outcomes of the Visit
- Internationalization of Education: Strengthening UoH’s integration into global academic networks to enhance visibility and foster educational partnerships.
- Staff and Student Exchange: Promoting knowledge sharing through mobility programs that enrich academic experiences.
- Collaborative Research: Identifying opportunities for joint research initiatives in tropical agricultural sciences.
- Capacity Building: Equipping UoH faculty and staff with innovative teaching and research techniques.
- Cultural Exchange: Building stronger connections through intercultural dialogue.
Student Mobility Program
Further expanding the partnership, two UoH students from the College of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine will travel to CZU in February 2025 for a full-semester training program. This hands-on program will focus on advanced agricultural and veterinary medicine skills, ensuring students gain practical knowledge and a skill-based education package.
The UoH team worked closely with esteemed scholars from CZU, including Ing. Jana MazancovĂ¡, Ph.D. (Head of the Faculty of Tropical AgriSciences), Prof. MVDr. David ModrĂ½, Ph.D. (Head of the Department of Veterinary Medicine), and Petra FrĂ½dlovĂ¡, Ph.D. (Charles University, Czech Republic), whose support ensured the program’s success.
Looking Ahead
The visit also opened discussions for further collaboration by engaging additional stakeholders from European universities, paving the way for expanded partnerships and deeper ties between institutions.
The University of Hargeisa remains committed to fostering international networks, advancing research excellence, and enhancing the academic and professional growth of its staff and students.
