Role Purpose

The Clinical Coordinator is responsible for overseeing clinical education and training within the College of Medicine and Health Sciences. The role ensures that students gain practical, hands-on experience in clinical settings, aligned with the college’s academic and professional objectives. The Clinical Coordinator serves as the key liaison between the college, affiliated hospitals, and healthcare facilities, promoting high standards in clinical teaching and student performance.

 

Duties and responsibilities

  •  Plan, organize, and oversee clinical rotations and training schedules for students in the medical and health sciences programs.
  • Ensure alignment of clinical training with the college’s curriculum and accreditation standards.
  • Monitor and evaluate student and supervisors’ performance during clinical rotations, ensuring consistent feedback and assessment.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with affiliated hospitals, clinics, and healthcare facilities.
  • Ensure clinical sites provide a conducive learning environment and meet the college’s standards for clinical education.
  •  Coordinate with site supervisors and preceptors to ensure the delivery of quality clinical teaching.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for students during clinical rotations, addressing any challenges or concerns.
  •   Provide orientation sessions for students before clinical placements, detailing expectations and responsibilities.
  • Support students in developing clinical skills and professional behavior.
  • Monitor the quality of clinical training across all sites and implement improvements as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and institutional policies at clinical sites.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports for accreditation and quality assurance purposes.
  • Work closely with faculty to integrate clinical experiences into the academic curriculum.
  • Facilitate communication between clinical site preceptors and the college’s teaching staff.
  •   Provide input on curriculum development to strengthen clinical training components.
  • Organize training and workshops for clinical preceptors to enhance their teaching and supervisory skills.
  • Foster a collaborative and professional relationship between preceptors and the college.
  • Maintain accurate records of clinical placements, student evaluations, and site agreements.
  •  Prepare reports on clinical training outcomes and activities for the principal and other stakeholders.
  •   Assist in resolving any administrative or logistical issues related to clinical training.
  •  Perform any additional responsibilities assigned by the principal to support the clinical education mission of the college.

 

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

■        Master’s degree in Medicine, health Science or a related field.

■        At least 5 years of experience in academia and clinical management

■        Proven track record in teaching, research, and academic administration.

■        Good knowledge and experience of medical clinical management.

■        Strong understanding of University of Hargeisa’s medicine & health sciences.
