Strengthening Academic Partnerships: University of Hargeisa Hosts Delegation from the University of Nairobi

The University of Hargeisa was honored to host esteemed professors, Prof. Ndavi and Prof. Kimani, from the University of Nairobi, for a productive courtesy visit with our President, Dr. Mohamed Sulub. Prof. Ndavi, Coordinator of the Africa Coordinating Centre for the Abandonment of Female Genital Mutilation (ACCAF), and Prof. Kimani, Integration Lead of ACCAF, shared invaluable insights on fostering stronger collaboration between our institutions. The discussions centered on enhancing south-to-south partnerships, building research capacities, supporting continuous professional development, and exploring grant opportunities to drive impactful initiatives.
During the meeting, President Dr. Sulub provided an overview of the University of Hargeisa’s organizational structure, highlighting its diverse departments and strategic plans, including Vision 2024/2025 and the long-term Vision 2035. These forward-looking strategies underscore the university’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and meaningful community engagement.
The meeting was also attended by Dr. Khalid Abdi, Director of the Directorate for Research, Publications, and Community Services; Dr. Jonah Kiruja, Deputy Director; and Abdiqathar Rashid, Senior Lecturer and member of the Directorate. This engagement marks the beginning of a promising partnership aimed at advancing academic growth, research excellence, and community impact. Together, the University of Hargeisa and the University of Nairobi are poised to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of higher education in Africa.
