Strategic Alliance: University of Hargeisa and Haramaya University Partner for Academic Excellence

The University of Hargeisa is pleased to announce the formal establishment of a strategic academic partnership with Haramaya University, Ethiopia, a collaboration aimed at strengthening regional integration and academic excellence across the Horn of Africa.
This milestone agreement, officially signed by the President of the University of Hargeisa Dr. Mohamed Sulub and Vice President for Academic Affairs of Haramaya University Prof. Mengistu Urge (PhD) lays the groundwork for a dynamic alliance focused on advancing higher education and research.
𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗯𝗼𝘁𝗵 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘀𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀, 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴:
• Joint postgraduate academic programs
• Collaborative research projects addressing regional and global challenges
• Co-hosted academic conferences and workshops
• Joint applications for research and development grants
• Institutional capacity building and knowledge exchange
To officially inaugurate the partnership, a high-level delegation from the University of Hargeisa, led by the President Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Sulub, accompanied by the Vice President for Administration and Development Dr. Abdirashed Ismail Mohamed and the University’s Legal Advisor Mr. Mohamoud Hussien Farah, is currently conducting an official visit to Haramaya University. The visit includes high-level discussions, campus tours, and strategic planning sessions aimed at aligning institutional priorities and setting a shared vision for the years ahead.
Special appreciation is extended to the entire senior administration of Haramaya University for the warm and gracious welcome extended to the delegation from the University of Hargeisa. The visit was further enriched by the participation of several key figures who played an important role in the discussions and engagements. Among them were Dr. Abdi Mohammed, Vice President for Administration and Development; Dr. Deribachew Bekana, Director of the Research; Dr. Elias Ahmed Sadik, a senior university official and member of the Ethiopian Parliament; Mr. Kamal Kasim, Director of community services; and Mr. Mohammed Yuya, the official liaison between Haramaya University and universities in Somaliland. Their involvement and hospitality contributed significantly to the success and strength of this strategic collaboration.
This partnership marks a significant step forward in the University of Hargeisa’s commitment to fostering academic excellence, regional collaboration, and global engagement.
