Background
The College of Education was established in 2006 to produce qualified teachers, specialized fin every subject needed in secondary and primary schools (and related institutions). The College of Education at the University of Hargeisa is engaged in achieving dynamic education as professional practice in the field of teaching through excellence in teaching research and community service that promotes Islamic faith and values, freedom, democracy, equality and human dignity.

This is a professional teacher training college where we graduate teachers who go off to teach and disseminate knowledge in various platforms such as philosophy, languages, arts, science, mathematics and the list goes on. Those individuals who love to help their country and its people, those individuals who find enjoyment in the company and the interaction with other people, those who have a desire to help other people figure out solutions to their problems by teaching them a better are a great match for this College.
Our graduates have the best opportunity in the country and the world at large, for instance when our students graduate they’re immediately appointed by the Ministry Of Education, teachers are required everywhere, In all fields of teaching and learning such as religion, linguistics, business anything for that matter, teachers are the back bone of our society and the world.
Our Bachelor of Education which four years prepares students for careers in the field of education. Whether as a teacher, school counselor, or school administrator, students earning a Bachelor of Education can move forward in a rewarding career. This degree program prepares teacher candidates to address the learning and socio-emotional needs of children/adults and adolescents with learning and intellectual disabilities, severe emotional and behavior disorders, and other disabilities.
Learning happens everywhere and many teachers work outside of a classroom. Education can happen in community centers, the workplace, non-profit agencies, recreation centers, and other locations. In our degree of education program, students will have numerous opportunities to examine the role and function of education in our society and will develop the tools needed to teach in a variety of non-traditional settings.
Currently, our degree program offers three majors and minors. Any student can make one of the two a Major and the other a Minor.

Our degree in English Language and Literature is an innovative degree program which is comprised of English language teaching methodology, English literature and linguistics modules. The students will study the linguistic systems underlying language, exploring in detail how the language is structured, acquired, used and taught. In addition, the relationship between text, language, reader and author, society, culture and the individual will be explored.
The program aims to provide students with a thorough grounding of the principles underpinning the study of language and the diversity of linguistic study. The teaching modules aim to provide students with knowledge and skills relevant to teaching English with an emphasis on classroom management and the use of technology.
The students will have the opportunity to study the ways in which the English language has developed over time, variation in language use, ways in which language is acquired by both native and non-native speakers and the study of language use in different social contexts.
