The University of Hargeisa has officially launched a month-long training program for teachers working in schools across the city of Hargeisa. The training focuses on improving modern teaching methodology in order to enhance the overall quality of education.
This important program is jointly organised by the Faculty of Education and the Faculty of Sharia of the University of Hargeisa, in collaboration with the Ministry of Religion and Endowments of Somaliland. Throughout the training period, teachers will gain updated knowledge and practical skills that will enable them to deliver lessons more effectively using student-centered and contemporary teaching approaches.
At the opening ceremony, speeches were delivered by the Acting Dean of the Faculty of Education and Behavioral Science, Hamse Ibrahim, and the Acting Dean of the College of Sharia and Law, Kalthoum Ahmed, both of whom emphasised the importance of enhancing teachers’ professional competencies to achieve quality education.
The training was officially inaugurated by the Vice President for Academic Affairs of the University of Hargeisa, Dr. Fuad Abdi Obsiye, who highlighted the critical role teachers play in societal development. He noted that the quality of education is directly linked to the quality of teachers and encouraged participants to fully benefit from the program. He further reaffirmed the university’s commitment to continuously developing teachers’ skills and improving the national education system, urging the adoption of modern teaching approaches aligned with global educational changes.
