The University of Hargeisa (UoH) paid an official visit to Kotebe University of Education (KUE), Ethiopia, where senior leaders from both institutions held high-level discussions aimed at establishing a long-term strategic partnership. The University of Hargeisa delegation was led by Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Sulub, President, accompanied by Dr. Khalid Ahmed Abdi, Vice President for Research, Innovation and Partnerships, and Dr. Fekadu Y. Maru, Dean of the College of Business, Economics and Statistics. They were warmly received by Dr. Teshome Nekatibeb, President of Kotebe University of Education, together with the University’s senior management team.
During the meeting, both universities presented their institutional profiles, shared their strategic priorities, and identified key areas for collaboration. Discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in teaching and learning, research, innovation, community engagement, capacity building, staff and student mobility, and infrastructure development, reflecting a shared commitment to advancing higher education through meaningful institutional partnerships.
In his remarks, Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Sulub reaffirmed the University of Hargeisa’s commitment to expanding its international partnerships and expressed the University’s strong interest in establishing a strategic relationship with Kotebe University of Education. He noted that the partnership would create new opportunities for academic excellence, joint research, innovation, and community service. Both institutions concluded the discussions by agreeing to initiate the process of developing and signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formalize their collaboration in areas of mutual interest.
Following the meeting, the University of Hargeisa delegation toured Kotebe University of Education’s expanding campus and ongoing infrastructure development projects, gaining valuable insights into the University’s institutional growth and transformation. The visit marks an important milestone in strengthening academic cooperation between the two universities and reinforces the University of Hargeisa’s commitment to internationalization, strategic partnerships, and excellence in higher education.
