University of Hargeisa Concludes Three-Day Training on Social Accounting Matrix (SAM) and Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) Modeling

The Faculty of Economics and Islamic Banking & Finance at the University of Hargeisa successfully concluded a three-day training on Social Accounting Matrix (SAM) and Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) Modeling, held from 06–08 July 2026. Facilitated by Mr. Hamse Hussein, Lecturer, Banker, and Economic Expert, the training provided participants with practical knowledge and hands-on skills in economic analysis, policy simulation, and evidence-based decision-making using SAM and CGE models.

The closing ceremony was attended by Dr. Khaalid Ahmed Abdi, Vice President for Research & International Relations, and Mr. Zakeria Eid, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Islamic Banking & Finance. In his remarks, Dr. Khaalid underscored the importance of SAM and CGE models in strengthening research capacity, analytical thinking, and policy modeling skills among economics students and researchers, emphasizing their value in supporting evidence-based national development.

Mr. Zakeria Eid commended the trainer and participants for their dedication and active engagement throughout the program. He reaffirmed the Faculty’s commitment to expanding similar capacity-building initiatives that enhance academic excellence and professional competencies, while expressing sincere appreciation to everyone who contributed to the successful delivery of the training.
