The University of Hargeisa is pleased to announce the participation of the Vice President for Research, Innovation and Partnerships, Dr. Khalid Ahmed Abdi, in a high-level international research collaboration hosted by the University of Girona, Spain. The engagement brings together leading researchers and academic representatives from the University of Girona (Spain), the University of Hargeisa (Somaliland), Mekelle University and Samara University (Ethiopia), the University of Botswana, and the Okavango Research Institute.
The collaboration focuses on exploring joint research opportunities in sustainable tourism, community livelihoods, biodiversity conservation, protected areas, and other priority areas that support sustainable development. The discussions also emphasize strengthening long-term institutional partnerships through doctoral co-supervision, collaborative research projects, research capacity building, and the development of internationally funded mobility and research initiatives.
Through such strategic international engagements, the University of Hargeisa continues to expand its global academic network and reinforce its commitment to research excellence, innovation, and partnerships that generate practical solutions to regional and global development challenges while creating meaningful societal impact.
