The Academic Programs Development and Promotion Directorate hereby invites eligible academic staff to apply for promotion for the 2026/2027 Academic Cohort in accordance with the approved Academic Staff Development and Promotion Policy.
✅ Promotion applications shall be evaluated based on;
- Effective teaching and research performance
- Scholarly publications and research quality
- Supervision experience
- Participation in university affairs and professional activities
- Community service contributions
- Required years of service in the current rank
📌 Minimum Promotion Requirements by Rank
🔹 Senior Lecturer
- Master’s Degree in a relevant discipline
- Six consecutive years of effective teaching
- Supervision of at least 20 undergraduate students
- Participation in at least 2 university/community service programs
🔹 Assistant Professor
- PhD/PhD Candidate in a relavant discipline
- Five years of effective teaching as Senior Lecturer
- At least 1 indexed (Scopus/Web of Science/PubMed) journal publications
- Supervision of at least 30 undergraduate students
- Participation in at least 5 university/community service programs
🔹 Associate Professor
- PhD in a relevant discipline
- Evidence of pedagogical skills
- Three years of service as Assistant Professor
- At least 2 indexed (Scopus/Web of Science/PubMed) journal publications since last promotion
- Supervision of at least 15 graduate students to completion
- Participation in at least 5 university/community service programs
🔹 Professor
- PhD in a relevant discipline
- Evidence of pedagogical skills
- Four years of service as Associate Professor
- At least 4 indexed (Scopus/Web of Science/PubMed) journal publications since last promotion
- Supervision of at least 20 Master’s students or 2 PhD students
- Active participation in university affairs including securing research grants and community engagement
📚 Publications must be published in reputable indexed journals such as Scopus, Web of Science, or PubMed.
