Purpose of the Role
The Deputy Dean for Computing & ICT is responsible for supporting the Dean in providing academic leadership, strategic planning, and operational management of the Computing & ICT departments within the College of Engineering and Computing. The role ensures the delivery of high-quality education and research, fosters collaboration, and promotes innovation in computing and ICT disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the Dean in developing and implementing strategic goals for the Computing & ICT departments.
Oversee the development, review, and delivery of academic programs to ensure alignment with industry standards and technological advancements.
Foster a culture of innovation, academic excellence, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Ensure academic programs meet accreditation standards and university policies.
Monitor and enhance the quality of teaching, learning, and assessment methods.
Collaborate with faculty to design and implement new programs and courses in response to emerging trends in computing and ICT.
Support the recruitment, evaluation, and professional development of faculty members in the Computing & ICT departments.
Coordinate teaching assignments and manage workload distribution.
Encourage faculty involvement in research, industry collaborations, and professional development activities.
Promote research activities within the Computing & ICT fields and encourage faculty and students to engage in innovative projects.
Facilitate partnerships with national and international research organizations.
Ensure the integration of research into teaching and learning processes.
Monitor student academic performance and support initiatives to improve retention and graduation rates.
Encourage student participation in academic, extracurricular, and professional development activities.
Serve as a point of contact for student concerns related to the Computing & ICT departments.
Assist the Dean in managing resources, including budget planning and allocation, within the Computing & ICT departments.
Ensure adherence to university policies, procedures, and deadlines.
Oversee the implementation of quality assurance processes and continuous improvement initiatives.
Build relationships with industry, governmental, and non-governmental organizations to enhance program relevance and student employability.
Represent the Computing & ICT departments in external engagements and partnerships.
Collaborate with the Public Relations and Fundraising Advisor to secure funding and resources for Computing & ICT initiatives.
Perform other tasks as assigned by the Dean to support the College’s academic and operational goals.
Key Qualifications
PhD or PhD candidate in Computing, ICT, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in academic leadership or management.
Proven record of teaching, research, and academic administration in higher education.
Familiarity with accreditation standards and quality assurance processes.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
Key Competencies

Ability to identify and respond to opportunities in computing and ICT fields.
Proficient in engaging with diverse stakeholders, both internally and externally.
