The University of Hargeisa and Amoud University have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Water Resources Development, in partnership with UNICEF, to strengthen students’ knowledge and practical skills in groundwater exploration and water resource management.
The agreement was attended by the Minister of Water Resources Development, Mr. Mohamed Sheikh Abdimalik, the Director General of the Ministry, Mr. Abdishakuur Ismail Hussein, the President of the University of Hargeisa, Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Sulub, the President of Amoud University, and representatives from UNICEF.
The MoU aims to provide students from both universities with specialized training in modern groundwater exploration techniques through the use of advanced geophysical equipment and state-of-the-art technologies for groundwater investigation and assessment.
This collaboration seeks to equip students with the technical knowledge and practical competencies required in groundwater surveying, water resource assessment, and sustainable water management. By strengthening the capacity of future professionals, the partnership will contribute to the development of Somaliland’s water sector and support evidence-based management of the country’s vital groundwater resources.
