The University of Hargeisa has officially launched an Integrated Community Health Service and Internship Program for students in the Public Health program at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences. The program is designed to help students translate classroom knowledge into practical workplace experience by directly engaging in community health activities, particularly Primary Health Care services.

The program is being implemented in collaboration with the University of Hargeisa, the Somaliland Ministry of Health Development, and the Maroodijeex Regional Health Office. It aims to strengthen students’ knowledge, practical skills, and professional experience before graduation through participation in health promotion, disease prevention, community awareness, and other public health activities.

The launch was attended by Dr. Sa’ad Ahmed Abdiwali (PhD), Acting Principal of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, and Ahmed Suleiman Hassan, Coordinator of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, while Dr. Abdishakur Ahmed Mohamed served as the trainer and facilitator. The initiative forms part of the University’s ongoing efforts to strengthen experiential learning, professional training, and community service.
