The University of Hargeisa welcomed Dr. Kassahun Gashu Melese, Associate Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Manufacturing Engineering at Hawassa University Institute of Technology, who visited the University representing Hawassa University.

During his visit, Dr. Kassahun held discussions with Dr. Khalid Ahmed Abdi, Vice President for Research, Innovation and Partnerships, together with the Principal of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, the Dean of the College of Engineering, Computing and IT, and the Dean of the College of Agriculture, Veterinary and Environmental Studies. He also toured the University’s Science and Engineering Main Laboratory, where he was introduced to the University’s laboratory facilities and ongoing academic and research activities.

The discussions focused on identifying potential areas of cooperation and defining the respective roles of the two universities in advancing future academic and research collaboration. Both institutions expressed their interest in strengthening cooperation in areas of mutual priority, including academic exchange, joint research, innovation, capacity building, and knowledge sharing.

As part of the ongoing engagement, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is expected to be signed by the Presidents of the University of Hargeisa and Hawassa University to formally establish and guide the partnership between the two institutions.

The University of Hargeisa looks forward to developing a productive and sustainable partnership with Hawassa University, contributing to stronger academic linkages, research collaboration, innovation, and institutional development.
