The Directorate of Research, Grants and Community Services, University of Hargeisa successfully held its Thesis Research & Projects Orientation Session for Supervisors, marking an important step in strengthening our research ecosystem.
The session brought together academic staff to engage on the new research model, focusing on thesis guidelines, data collection processes, and clear timelines to support effective supervision and timely completion of student research.
A key highlight of the discussion was the alignment of the new research model with Somaliland’s National Development Plan priorities ensuring that student research contributes directly to national needs, generates actionable evidence, and supports policy and decision-making.
This refreshed approach to thesis research is designed to:
• Promote high-quality, publishable research from student projects
• Generate rich datasets that inform policy briefs and national dialogue
• Provide a platform for students to communicate findings and influence stakeholders
• Enhance graduate employability through practical research skills
• Inform curriculum development with locally relevant evidence
• Support future grant proposals through strong baseline data
We appreciate the active participation and commitment of our academic staff in shaping a research culture that is impactful, relevant, and nationally aligned.
