The University of Hargeisa organized an introductory career talk for first-year Social Work students on the topic “The Role of Social Workers in Society, Career Opportunities, and the Future of Social Work.” The session aimed to provide students with a deeper understanding of the social work profession, its impact on communities, and the diverse career pathways available in the field.

During the session, students engaged in discussions on the responsibilities of social workers, emerging opportunities within the profession, and the growing importance of social work in addressing social, economic, and community challenges. The event also encouraged students to reflect on their future roles as professionals committed to serving society and promoting social well-being.

The lecture was delivered by Aidarous Adan Omar, a qualified social worker holding both a Master of Social Work (MSW) and a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW). Drawing on over five years of professional experience in case management and social work services, including his work with CCBRS and other service settings, he shared practical insights into generalist social work practice and the evolving role of social workers in today’s world.
