The Faculty of Statistics and Data Science at the University of Hargeisa organized a guest lecture titled “From Data to Decisions: How Statistical Models Shape Public Health Practice” as part of the Statistical Methods in Epidemiology (Advanced Biostatistics) course. The session was officially opened by Dr. Fekadu Y. Maru, Dean of the College of Business, Economics and Statistics, alongside Mohamed Ahmed Essa, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Statistics and Data Science, and Mahad Ibrahim, lecturer of the course.
The lecture was delivered by Dr. Soheir H. Ahmed, Associate Professor of Epidemiology and Director of the School of Graduate Studies at the University of Hargeisa. Dr. Soheir shared valuable insights on how statistical models and data-driven approaches are used to understand health trends, guide public health interventions, and support evidence-based decision-making.
The event brought together students, academic staff, and faculty leadership, providing an enriching learning experience that strengthened students’ understanding of the practical applications of biostatistics and epidemiology in addressing real-world public health challenges.
