Faculty of Economics and Islamic Banking Concludes Financial Literacy Campaign 2026

The Faculty of Economics and Islamic Banking, under the College of Business, Economics, and Statistics at the University of Hargeisa, successfully concluded the Financial Literacy Campaign 2026, an educational and community-focused initiative aimed at enhancing public understanding of financial management, budgeting, saving, investment, and responsible economic behavior in accordance with Islamic principles.

The campaign was student-led and community-oriented, providing students with the opportunity to engage directly with the public while delivering practical financial knowledge and promoting financial awareness. Throughout the program, students strengthened their leadership, communication, teamwork, and civic engagement skills by applying classroom learning to real community needs. The initiative was supported by the leadership of the college and faculty, including Dr. Fekadu Y. Maru, Dean of the College of Business, Economics, and Statistics, and Zakarie Eid, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Islamic Banking.

The closing ceremony brought together senior officials and representatives from key financial institutions, including the Central Bank of Somaliland, Wadaag Bank, Amal Bank, and Dahabshiil Bank. Participants commended the dedication and achievements of the students, faculty members, and administrators involved in the campaign. The successful completion of the initiative reaffirmed the faculty’s commitment to academic excellence, community engagement, and preparing graduates to become responsible professionals who contribute positively to economic development and society.
