From 4th to 6th November 2025, the University of Hargeisa is hosting a Grants Proposal Writing Workshop facilitated by Camila Riel from Roskilde University, Denmark.

The workshop was officially opened by the President of the University of Hargeisa, Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Sulub, who emphasized the critical importance of grant proposal writing as a cornerstone of academic excellence and institutional growth. In his opening remarks, Dr. Sulub highlighted that strengthening the capacity of faculty and researchers in competitive grant writing directly supports the University’s strategic vision to enhance research productivity, foster innovation, and expand global partnerships. He noted that such initiatives not only empower academic staff to secure funding for impactful research but also position the University of Hargeisa as a regional leader in knowledge creation and evidence-based development.

Held at the Ambassador Hotel, this training is organized under the Building Stronger Universities (BSU) IV Program, a collaborative initiative between the University of Hargeisa and Danish universities. The workshop focuses on enhancing participants’ skills in developing competitive grant proposals, budgeting, and engaging with funding agencies vital tools for advancing impactful research and innovation in Somaliland.
