The University of Hargeisa and Syiah Kuala University of Indonesia Sign Cooperation Agreement

The University of Hargeisa has officially signed a partnership agreement with Syiah Kuala University in Indonesia. The agreement focuses on collaboration in key areas such as education, research, faculty exchange, and the development of academic infrastructure. Facilitated by SIMA, this partnership will also pave the way for the University of Hargeisa to become a member of FIMA (Federation of Islamic Medical Associations).

Joining this federation will enable the people of Somaliland to benefit from free medical services, including eye surgeries, cleft lip repairs, and other similar humanitarian health programs. Through FIMA, the University will also implement free medical education services, public health consultations, and treatment programs for the local community.

The signing ceremony was attended by the University’s leadership team, including Dr. Khalid Abdi, Vice President for Research, Innovation, and International Relations; Dr. Fuad Obsiiye, Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs; Dr. Abdirashid Ismail, Vice President for Administration and Development; and Mr. Ali Mire, Director of Communication and Public Relations. Representing SIMA were Dr. Abdirisak and Dr. Hussein, both faculty members at the University of Hargeisa.

This agreement marks a new chapter in strengthening the University of Hargeisa’s partnerships with leading universities across Southeast Asia.
