The University of Hargeisa today, 16 November 2025, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Somaliland Quality Control Commission. The Chairman of the Commission, Mr. Mohamed Keyse, and the Deputy Chairman, Dr. Mahmoud Jama, accompanied by senior officials from the Commission, paid an official visit to the University. Chairman Mohamed Keyse and his delegation were warmly welcomed at the University, where they were first received in his office by the President of the University of Hargeisa, Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Sulub, and the Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Partnerships Dr. Khalid Abdi.
The delegation then conducted a brief tour of the University’s laboratories, which are modern facilities designed for teaching, research, and community-related activities. After the tour, the delegation and University officials held an important meeting at the School of Graduate Studies, where they discussed in depth the potential areas of cooperation between the two institutions.
The Director of Communications and Marketing, Mr. Ali I. Mire, opened the meeting with a concise overview of the University of Hargeisa—its history, services, various departments, completed and ongoing research projects, and its collaborations with international institutions and universities. Additional information was presented by the Commission’s Director of Planning, Mr. Mohamed Farid, who explained the structure and mandate of the Somaliland Quality Control Commission.
Vice President for Research at the University, Dr. Khalid Abdi; Vice President for University Development, Dr. Abdirashiid Ismail; Deputy Chairman of the Quality Control Commission, Dr. Mahmoud Jama; Director of the School of Graduate Studies, Dr. Suheyr Hassan; and the Commission’s Advisor, Saad Haddi—all delivered remarks highlighting the major benefits of the MoU and the promising cooperation pathways between the two entities.
In his concluding remarks, the Chairman of the Quality Control Commission reaffirmed the Commission’s strong commitment to establishing a close and productive partnership with the University of Hargeisa. He acknowledged the University’s significant role in advancing society and emphasized that this MoU will be translated into practical action through tangible collaborative efforts.
Closing the meeting, the President of the University of Hargeisa expressed the University’s firm commitment to delivering quality education, conducting research that addresses both national and regional challenges, and serving the community. He reiterated the University’s readiness to contribute to societal development—one of the key reasons it continues to form partnerships with government institutions and civil society organizations.
Finally, the President of the University and the Chairman of the Somaliland Quality Control Commission officially signed the MoU and exchanged copies. The University of Hargeisa expresses its satisfaction with this important agreement, which will significantly contribute to addressing quality-related challenges and enhancing public awareness.
