The five-day Training of Trainers (ToT) on Research Management and Leadership under the Building Stronger Universities IV (BSU-IV) Project successfully concluded today at Ambassadors Hotel. The training brought together 25 academic and administrative staff members from University of Hargeisa and focused on strengthening institutional capacity in research leadership, grant management, proposal development, project implementation, and research dissemination.
The closing ceremony was officially officiated by Dr. Khalid Ahmed Abdi, who commended the participants for their dedication, active participation, and commitment throughout the intensive five-day program. He encouraged the trainees to effectively apply the knowledge and practical skills gained during the training by actively identifying and pursuing available research and innovation grants, developing competitive proposals, and building strong research collaborations that contribute to institutional growth and national development. Dr. Khalid emphasized that strengthening research excellence, innovation, international partnerships, and externally funded research initiatives are key priorities outlined in the University of Hargeisa Strategic Plan, noting that such capacity-building initiatives are essential in transforming the university into a leading research-driven institution in the region. He further highlighted the important role played by the BSU-IV Project in supporting the universityโs long-term vision through strengthening administrative and academic frameworks and enhancing research management systems.
Dr. Khalid also extended sincere appreciation to Associate Professor Peter Furu from the University of Copenhagen for facilitating the training and sharing valuable international expertise, practical experiences, and global best practices in research leadership and management. He noted that Prof. Peter Furuโs extensive experience, engaging facilitation approach, and commitment to institutional capacity development greatly enriched the program and inspired participants to strengthen their contribution towards advancing research, innovation, and academic excellence at the University of Hargeisa.
