The University of Hargeisa has commenced a five-day Training of Trainers (ToT) programme on Research Management and Leadership under the Building Stronger Universities IV (BSU-IV) Project, bringing together 25 academic and administrative staff members from across the university. The training, which began on 20 May 2026 at Ambassador Hotel, reflects the Universityโ€™s continued commitment to strengthening research capacity, innovation, and institutional development.

The opening session was officiated by Dr. Khalid Ahmed Abdi, who emphasized the importance of effective research management and leadership in advancing higher education and enhancing the quality and impact of research activities. The workshop is designed to equip participants with practical competencies in research administration, grant acquisition, project management, partnership development, monitoring and evaluation, and research knowledge dissemination.

The training is facilitated by Dr. Peter Furu from the University of Copenhagen and introduces participants to international best practices and practical approaches to research leadership and management. The BSU-IV Project is a collaborative initiative involving the University of Southern Denmark, Roskilde University, University of Copenhagen, University of Hargeisa, Gulu University, and the State University of Zanzibar, aimed at strengthening institutional and research capacities among partner universities in East Africa.
