On June 4, 2025, the University of Hargeisa officially launched the More Women in Research (MWiR) manifesto during the Building Stronger Universities-IV (BSU-IV) Annual Meeting, held in Hargeisa, Somaliland. The MWiR manifesto is a powerful call to action designed to address the persistent underrepresentation of women in academia and research, particularly across the African continent.

Dr. Soheir H. Ahmed presented the manifesto and highlighted the steps the University of Hargeisa is taking to promote awareness and engagement with the document, both within the university and the broader community.

In his remarks, the President of the University of Hargeisa, Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Sulub, emphasized the institution’s commitment to the manifesto, describing it as a “living document” that will continue to guide the university’s efforts to foster gender equity in research and academic leadership.
