The University of Hargeisa today warmly welcomed a delegation from the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Rwanda (ICPAR) and the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Somaliland (ICPAS), who paid an official working visit to the university. The purpose of the visit was to strengthen collaboration in education and financial skills development, with the University of Hargeisa officially designated as the Examination Center for the CPA Professional Certification in Somaliland. The CPA certification was launched earlier today at the Ambassador Hotel in Hargeisa, in a ceremony officiated by the Vice President of the Republic of Somaliland, Hon. Mohamed Aw-Cali Abdi, and attended on behalf of the University of Hargeisa by the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Research, Dr. Fuad Abdi Obsiiye.
The ICPAR delegation was led by Mr. Amin Miramago, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), accompanied by Mr. Willy Innocent and Ms. Jocelyne Karita, Branding and Communications Manager. On the side of ICPAS, the delegation was led by Dr. Saed Sulub, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), and Ms. Nasra Abdi Ismail, Director of Operations and Strategy. The visiting delegation was received at the University of Hargeisa by Dr. Mohamed Sulub, President of the University, Dr. Fuad Obsiiye, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Research, and Dr. Abdirashed Ismail, Vice President for Administration and Development. Also in attendance were directors of various departments, including Research and Community Service, ICT Development, Communications, the School of Graduate Studies, and the Public Relations Office.
In his welcoming remarks, the President of the University of Hargeisa, Dr. Mohamed Sulub, warmly received the delegation, noting that this partnership marks a great opportunity for students and professionals in Somaliland. He stated: “We are delighted that the University of Hargeisa has been designated as the CPA Examination Center in the region. This will provide young people and finance professionals with the opportunity to gain an internationally recognized certification that enhances their professional competence and career prospects.”
On their part, the CEOs of ICPAR and ICPAS, Mr. Amin Miramago and Dr. Saed Sulub, expressed their gratitude to the University of Hargeisa for the warm welcome and hospitality. They emphasized that this collaboration represents an important step in advancing the accounting and finance profession in Somaliland. Both parties agreed that the partnership would not be limited to the CPA Examination Center alone, but would also extend to broader areas including training programs, joint research, and capacity-building for financial professionals in both the public and private sectors.
