The University of Hargeisa has successfully concluded a one-week counseling session tailored for second- and third-year students, organized by the Directorate of Student Affairs and Alumni Relations. Facilitated by Dr. Jonah Karuje and Mr. Abdirahman Abdillahi, the sessions aimed to equip students with essential skills in emotional resilience, academic motivation, decision-making, and personal development. The primary objective was to enhance students’ psychological well-being and academic performance during their university journey.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Mr. Omer Bade, Director of Student Affairs and Alumni Relations, emphasized the importance of psychological support in shaping a successful academic experience, stating that “helping students navigate stress, set clear goals, and build self-confidence is a long-term investment in their success.” Dr. Fuad Obsiye, Vice President for Academic and Research, who closed the session, commended the initiative and noted that student mental or emotional well-being is integral to academic excellence. He encouraged students to continue applying the insights gained during the sessions and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to providing holistic education that nurtures both the mind and character.
