The Quality Assurance and Institutional Transformation Directorate at the University of Hargeisa successfully conducted a two-day capacity-building training on quality assurance in higher education. The training was facilitated by Professor Melaku Mengistu and attended by members of the Quality Assurance and Institutional Transformation team, coordinators from different colleges, and representatives from various university directorates. The Director of Quality Assurance and Institutional Transformation, Mr. Abdirashid Gahnug, welcomed the participants and highlighted the importance of strengthening quality assurance practices across the university.
The training was officially opened by the vice president for research, innovation, and partnerships at the University of Hargeisa, Dr. Khalid Ahmed Abdi, who emphasized the universityโs commitment to promoting quality education, institutional excellence, and continuous improvement in higher education. He encouraged participants to apply the knowledge and skills gained from the training to support institutional development and evidence-based decision-making.
The sessions covered key areas, including the conceptual foundations of quality, service, and educational quality, quality assurance models, QA frameworks in higher education institutions, external quality assurance practices; international QA standards, challenges in implementing QA systems, and key performance indicators in higher education institutions. The training aimed to strengthen institutional quality assurance systems, enhance coordination among university units, and support the University of Hargeisaโs ongoing efforts to align with national and international higher education quality standards.
