The University of Hargeisa organized a sensitization workshop for 47 school principals currently enrolled in the Postgraduate Diploma in Educational Leadership programme, focusing on the newly developed National School Leadership Standards introduced by the Ministry of Education and Science. The workshop aimed to strengthen understanding of the seven national standards and reinforce the University’s commitment to aligning its educational leadership curriculum with national priorities and the evolving needs of Somaliland’s schools.

The workshop provided an important platform for participants to reflect on key areas of effective school leadership, including instructional supervision, teacher support, school governance, accountability, and continuous school improvement. Discussions also emphasized the importance of preparing school leaders through a standards-based approach that promotes quality education and institutional development across the country.

The event was attended by the Vice President for Administration and Development at the University of Hargeisa, Dr. Abdirashid Ismail Mohamed, the Acting Dean of the College of Education and Behavioral Sciences, Mr. Hamse, the Director of the Teacher Education Department at the Ministry of Education and Science, Ms. Nasra Ahmed; the Technical Advisor for Teacher Education at the Ministry, Dr. Gulled Yasin , representatives from the Pharo Foundation, which supported the training; and other officials from the University of Hargeisa.
