The University of Hargeisa conducted a one-day training on Higher Education Quality and University Ranking, designed for staff of the Quality Assurance and Institutional Transformation Directorate. Held at the University of Hargeisa Resource Center, IPCS, the training was part of the University’s efforts to strengthen institutional quality systems and enhance its competitiveness and visibility within the global higher education landscape.

The training was delivered by Prof. Abdul Hafaz Bin Ngah of Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, Malaysia. He provided in-depth sessions on managing academic quality in higher education institutions, with particular attention to internal and external quality assurance, as well as strategies for improving institutional performance in international university ranking systems such as Times Higher Education (THE), AD Scientific Index, and Webometrics.

The training equipped participants with a broader understanding of how to establish sustainable quality assurance systems, strengthen institutional performance, and improve key indicators used in university assessment and ranking. The University of Hargeisa considers this initiative an important step toward advancing institutional excellence, accountability, innovation, and its long-term ambition to achieve higher standards in education, research, and international recognition.
