The University of Hargeisa and the Ministry of Investment and Industrial Development (MoIID) held a strategic cooperation meeting, officially opened by the Minister, Mr. Siciid Maxamed Buraale. The Minister specifically addressed the establishment of the 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿, highlighting its importance for collecting, storing, and analyzing research data to support evidence-based decision-making and sustainable investment planning, while promoting good governance of the nation’s resources. The meeting also aimed to strengthen inter-institutional collaboration and develop policies grounded in research and knowledge.

A brief speech was delivered by the Director General of the Ministry of Investment and Industrial Development, Mr. Cabdifatax Ismaaciil Ducaale, and senior officials from both institutions participated. From the Ministry, participants included the Director of Research and Development (R&D), the Minister’s advisor, and directors from the departments of industry, investment, law, ICT, internal audit, and technical divisions.

The Vice-President for Research, Innovation, and Partnerships at the University of Hargeisa, Dr. Khalid Ahmed Abdi, led the university delegation, accompanied by senior officials from various university departments. Among them were Dr. Jonah Kiruja, Director of Research, Grants and Community Services at the University, Mr. Awil Ahmed, Director of ICT Development, Mr. Mustafe Xasan Daahir, Director of the University Library, and Abdiqathar Rashid from the Research Department.

Dr. Khaalid Axmed Cabdi stated that the University of Hargeisa is fully committed to advancing research, innovation, and providing expert advice to support both public and private institutions. He specifically welcomed the establishment of the Research Data Center, as well as the advancement of strategic collaboration and the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two institutions.

This strategic cooperation will foster sustainable development, good governance based on data and evidence, and productive, long-lasting collaboration. It reflects the university’s strong commitment to strengthening institutional cooperation and advancing policies and programs grounded in accurate and reliable data.
