The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change of the Republic of Somaliland, in collaboration with the University of Hargeisa, successfully conducted a three-day training on Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA). The training brought together students from the University’s College of Environment and staff members from the Ministry, focusing on assessing the environmental and social impacts of development projects. The sessions were held at the University of Hargeisa campus.

The main objective of the training was to equip participants with practical knowledge and skills to evaluate the potential environmental and social effects of development initiatives, ensuring that progress remains sustainable and environmentally responsible. The program concluded successfully with participants receiving certificates of completion. Officials from both institutions emphasized the importance of such trainings in enhancing students’ understanding and professional capacity in environmental protection, sustainable development, and the effective management of social and ecological impacts of projects.
