The University of Hargeisa held a special meeting with students representing ten secondary schools from across the city of Hargeisa. The students were warmly welcomed at the university, where the event took place.
The meeting was officially opened by Mr. Ali Mire, Director of University Relations, who explained the purpose of the gathering. He noted that the meeting had two main goals: first, to provide guidance and motivational advice to the students who are set to sit for their national secondary school exams later this month; and second, to introduce the students to university life and provide them with information about the academic programs offered by the University of Hargeisa.
Two distinguished lecturers from the university, Hamse Ibrahim and Cabdikarin Ali-Aarif — both of whom have extensive experience with national examinations — gave the students important insights, advice, and motivation. They spoke about the keys to success in exams, strategies for managing stress, and common mistakes that could lead to failure.
Following the awareness session, current university students from various faculties provided the visiting students with detailed information about the different academic programs available at the University of Hargeisa. The university students, who had prepared thoroughly to host the guests, highlighted the advanced knowledge and skills provided at the university and encouraged the visitors to choose fields of study that align with both personal interests and national development needs.
The session concluded with an inspiring speech from Dr. Fuad Abdi Obsiye, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Research at the University of Hargeisa. Dr. Fuad offered his best wishes for the students’ upcoming exams and emphasized the importance of making thoughtful choices for their future. He reminded them that every student reaps the fruits of their own efforts and mindset. He urged them to prepare themselves to become future leaders who can bring positive change to their lives, their communities, and the nation as a whole.
At the end of the program, the visiting high school students were given a tour of various parts of the university campus. University students from different faculties guided them and explained the functions of key facilities such as laboratories and research centers.
The University of Hargeisa extends its best wishes to all students sitting for the national secondary school examinations this year, especially those in their final year of high school.
